The Encapsulation Bra Is the Answer to Your Workout Woes
When you have a DD cup size or larger, your needs are much different from a woman who has an A, B or C cup. Traditional compression sports bras – which simply rely on the pressure of the material to help prevent the breasts from moving – won’t cut it for you.
The best sports bra for large chests is an encapsulation bra.
These bras have separate cups for each breast, “encapsulating” each one to offer individual support. These are ideal for large breasts because they limit movement and shifting as you work out while providing full support under and around the entire breast.
If you’ve been squeezing into a compression bra for each workout, make the switch to an encapsulation bra. The difference is night and day!
A Racerback Isn’t Necessary
Most women are taught that the racerback style will provide them with the most support when it comes to working out or playing sports, but this simply doesn’t apply to women with large breasts.
In fact, only one bra on our list allows users to change it to a racerback style, and that is the Freya Active Underwire Molded Sports Bra. The rest wear as regular bras do, with hook and eye closures on the front or the back of the bra.
For A-C cups, this style will help prevent the straps from falling as you move as well as apply more pressure to help prevent your breasts from dancing around, but since large breasted women do better with an encapsulation bra, the racerback option isn’t needed.
If You’re Plus Size…
Those of you in need of the best plus size sports bra should check out Glamorise. They offer the widest range of band sizes that can also accommodate larger breasts.
Top 3 Best Sports Bra for Large Breasts Reviews
Enell makes by far the best sports bra for large breasts on our list. It is a little pricier than some of the other options out there, but for women who have already wasted a lot of money on products that didn’t fit properly, the higher price tag is so worth it.
The bra is made of 90% nylon and 10% Spandex, so it is quite smooth for a sports bra. To be quite honest, nylon isn’t the best material for workouts because it isn’t breathable, but the superior level of support that this bra offers is hard to beat.
It’s a breeze to put on since the hook and eyes are located in the front, and it comes in six different colors.
Whether you’re using this for running, high-impact sports or a leisurely stroll around the neighborhood, this bra offers you the support you need to focus more on your activities and less on your undergarments.
Wacoal is another popular choice for large-breasted women. It offers superior support from above and below thanks to the underwire and the wide straps that help prevent your breasts from sagging and bouncing as you move.
Just like Enell, Wacoal used nylon and Spandex. However, they wove it differently because it is not shiny and smooth like the previous bra. It also closes on the back (not on the front), and they provide you with a row of three hook and eye closures for better coverage and support.
The cups do not have padding in them. Wacoal used two ply-fabric (two layers) on each one, which helps keep the material breathable even if you get a little sweaty.
Overall, this is an excellent sports bra, but only when you get one that is sewn properly. There seems to be a very high number of defected ones that women receive that have pieces sewn on backward, and while we didn’t have this problem with ours, it is still something to keep an eye out for if you try it.
Playtex’s Play Outgoer Bra is ideal those of you who prefer a bit of padding to help provide better coverage and a smoother shape.
It is made of polyester Spandex, and nylon and the way that it was woven makes it much more moisture wicking than the other bras in our top three. We also appreciated that the made the strap length adjustable from the front, so you don’t have to fight to reach the straps in the back when you’re wearing it.
Many women find this to work just as well as an everyday bra as they do a workout bra. If you were looking for a product that wasn’t quite as expensive as the previous products yet still offers the same amount of support, try this one.
Keep in mind that the sizing ranges from Small to X-Large, so it won’t accommodate everyone. Based on their sizing chart, women up to a 40DD or a 42D shouldn’t have a problem with the sizing.
